Graphic content warning: Kevin Doyle has tweeted a picture of his leg injury and it is gruesome
Kevin Doyle has posted an image of the deep gash he suffered above his ankle during last night's friendly win over Switzerland at the Aviva Stadium.
Doyle was stretchered off in the 27th minute after he clashed with a Swiss defender on his international return after being out in the cold for two years.
"thanks for all the messages, could have been worse, bit of surgery going on now and be back very soon," tweeted Doyle.
Ireland manager Martin O'Neill was just thankful that the Colorado Rapids mad has not broken anything.
"Our doctor just told me it's a deep cut and they're cleaning it out, but there's nothing broken which is great from our viewpoint," O'Neill confirmed.
"He's going under anaesthetic now to get it stitched up and hopefully everything will be alright."

Asked if Doyle could miss the Euros, O'Neill replied: "No, hopefully the cut doesn't get infected. Nothing's broken and that's the case."
