Derry captain Ryan McBride was remembered in fitting fashion at the Aviva Stadium tonight, with both teams and their fans paying their respects to the departed footballer.

Ireland take on Wales in a crucial World Cup qualifier tonight, with the game overshadowed by the tragic death of the League of Ireland footballer last weekend.

Wales captain Ashley Williams presented President Higgins with a number 5 McBride jersey before the match, after which both sets of fans took part in a heartwarming fifth minute of applause to remember McBride, former Ireland international Ray Brady and former FAI President Milo Corcoran.
