In the season of comebacks, Robbie Fowler is to join the horde of golden oldies returning to the action... but this time in India. Fowler has been signed up to take part in the special league modelled on the hugely successful IPL Twenty20 cricket tournament.
The former Liverpool star, last seen on the fields of Thailand, is to be joined in the Indian summer of his career by six other iconic players in Fernando Morientes, Robert Pires, Fabio Cannavaro, Jay-Jay Okocha and Argentina internationals Hernan Crespo and Juan Pablo Sorin.
Despite being long passed their sell-by date, they will be among 30 foreign players to be auctioned off in Kolkata before the action begins in February.
