'I suffer with you' - Eric Cantona's emotional video message to the people of Manchester
Manchester United legend Eric Cantona has recorded a powerful and emotional video message to the people of his adopted city, following the horrifying terrorist attack at the Manchester Arena on Monday night.
Cantona became a United icon during his spell with the club in the mid-1990s and he posted a very personal message that was posted on the Eurosport Twitter account.
“I think deeply to the victims, to the wounded persons, kids, teenagers, adults. To their families, to their friends, to all of you, all of us,” said Cantona.
“I think to this city, Manchester and Mancunians that I love deeply. I think to this country England and the English that I love deeply. I suffer with you. My heart is with you. I always feel close to you.”
Cantona’s message joins a string of messages of support for the victims of the Manchester bombing from sporting stars, with ex-United star David Beckham, current United captain Wayne Rooney and former United midfielder Cristiano Ronaldo among those expressed their sympathy.
