Hughton targets Rooney signing
Irish striker Adam Rooney is being targeted by Birmingham City's new manager Chris Hughton.
The 23-year-old Dubliner is out of contract at Inverness Caledonian Thistle, where he scored 21 goals last season. He is attracting interest from a host of English clubs.
"Adam is talking to clubs down south, but he has made it clear that if he can't agree anything then he would be quite keen to come back and sign for us," said Inverness assistant manager Maurice Malpas.
Black Cats set to seal £9m Wickham deal
Ipswich striker Connor Wickham is expected to undergo a medical with Sunderland within the next 24 hours.
The Championship side are reported to have accepted a bid of £9m for the striker.
In addition, Birmingham midfielder Craig Gardner is due on Wearside today for talks.
Drogba in line for deal extension
Chelsea are keen to open talks with striker Didier Drogba over a one-year contract extension.
New manager Andre Villas-Boas is understood to want to retain Drogba (33) despite the arrival of £50m striker Fernando Torres last January and the club's pursuit of other striking options. Villas-Boas is believed to have sanctioned a one-year extension to Drogba's current deal.
Marseilles are interested in re-signing Drogba, who spent one season at the Velodrome before joining Chelsea for £24m in 2004.
Birmingham reject Potters double bid
Stoke have had a joint bid of around £10m rejected by Birmingham for defender Scott Dann and striker Cameron Jerome.
It is thought the Potters are not willing to increase their offer for the pair. Dann (24), who moved to St Andrews from Coventry for £3.5m in 2009, has also been linked with a move to Liverpool.
