Hoops sign Elebert on deadline

Shamrock Rovers have signed Dubliner David Elebert from Icelandic Premier League side Fylkir.

The defender had a five-year spell with Scottish club Hamilton and also had stints at Scarborough and Preston North End. Boss Trevor Croly completed his signing before the close of the transfer window yesterday.

Sligo Rovers have announced the capture of English striker Anthony Elding. The 30-year-old was at Grimsby and lists Preston, Leeds and Hungarian side Ferencvaros as former clubs.

"He has a good record of scoring goals in the Football League with around a one-in-three ratio. He has played with some very good clubs and has some great experience, including playing in Europe," said Rovers boss Ian Baraclough, who is looking forward to partnering Elding with Danny North when the latter returns from injury.

UCD finalised their plans for the season by signing Craig Walsh and Dinny Corcoran from Longford and Bohemians.
