History against Sligo
Sligo Rovers will have to overcome almost four decades of misery if they are to upset Molde in Norway tonight.
Since Athlone Town took on Valerenga in the UEFA Cup way back in 1975 and took home a 1-1 draw, Irish clubs have tried and failed to win on Norwegian soil.
In the 1990s Bohemians (0-5), Sligo Rovers (0-4) and Shelbourne (1-2) all lost away to Norwegian sides.
A Richie Foran goal earned Shelbourne a 1-1 draw away to Rosenborg in the Champions League in 2000, but since then it's been the same old story as Bohemians again (0-4) and Drogheda United (0-1) have come away from Norway empty-handed.
