IAN Harte should have a third reason to celebrate in the coming weeks with a new contract offer from Reading set to follow promotion to the Premier League and praise from his peers who voted the veteran left-back onto the Championship's Team of the Year.
The 34-year-old is the only Irishman to figure in the PFA XI in England's top two divisions. His resurgence with the Championship winners is one of the good news stories of the season, and Brian McDermott is ready to present the ex- Leeds United man with a fresh 12-month contract, as his current arrangement expires at the end of the season.
Harte has made 33 appearances for the Royals in this campaign and scored four goals in their charge to the top of the table. He joined from Carlisle in August 2010.
Meanwhile, three Irish midfielders were selected in the League One team of the season: Stephen Gleeson ( MK Dons), Stephen Quinn ( Sheffield United) and Darren Potter ( Sheffield Wednesday). Potter and Gleeson were capped at senior level under Steve Staunton.
Derry lad Eunan O'Kane -- a recent convert from the Northern Ireland set-up -- made the League Two XI on account of his performances for Torquay.
