Galliani has grounds for icy festive cheer

Saturday December 26 2009

AS the continent of Europe enters a new Ice Age, football has been hit hard by postponements.

In Italy last weekend four Serie A matches were called off, including AC Milan's fixture away to Fiorentina.

We're not sure what the Italian is for 'c'est la vie' but Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani had his own festive reaction to the move.

"The game has not been postponed because of the cold, but for the obsolescence of Italian stadiums," he said.

"I am too old to win this battle. They played everywhere else in Europe this evening. The problem is the stadiums. We need to change the grounds. There is nothing else to say. Merry Christmas."

Not quite bah humbug but we certainly get the message Signor Galliani.
