Former Manchester United flop trolls Steven Gerrard with medals jibe
Former Manchester United defender Alexander Buttner has defended his time and the club - while having a cheeky dig at Steven Gerrard in the process.
Dutchman Buttner - who has just completed a move from Dynamo Moscow to Vitesse Arnhem - was signed by Alex Ferguson in 2012 but played just 28 times for Manchester United.
In his first season at Old Trafford, United won the league and despite playing just five times that year, Buttner expressed his satisfaction that he has a title-winning medal in his arse pocket - something Gerrard has not.
"My adventure with Manchester United was not a failure," he told Algemeen Dagblad in his homeland.
"Who can say that they have won the Premier League title? I can say that.
"Even Steven Gerrard hasn’t managed it."
He may not have done it on the pitch, but Buttner has endeared himself to the United faithful with this one.
