Former Liverpool full-back Andrea Dossena has been held by police on suspicion of shoplifting at Harrods.
The Italian international, who now plays with League One Leyton Orient, was arrested – along with his wife – at the Knightsbridge department store on Tuesday afternoon, according to the Liverpool Echo.
"Police arrested a 33-year-old male and a 31-year-old woman on April 7 on suspicion of shoplifting at Harrods," a spokesman told the Liverpool Echo.
"They were taken to a west London police station.
"Both the man and woman have been bailed to a date in late April, pending further enquiries."
Dossena famously scored two fantastic goals in a week for the club in 2009, in fantastic wins against Real Madrid and then Manchester United.
Dossena’s agent, however, claimed the pair were held after their child picked up a book and carried it out of the store. He told the Mirror: "It was a family shopping trip to Harrods and their little boy was carrying his own bag.
"He put a kids’ book in there and it set the security alarms off as they left the shop. Andrea and his wife didn’t have any ID with them so they had to go to the police station just to verify who they were."
