Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero spoke of his happiness after his sensational five-goal demolition of Newcastle at the Etihad Stadium.

Aguero struck five times in the space of just 20 minutes as City came from behind to power to a 6-1 win in the Barclays Premier League.

It was a stunning return to form by the Argentinian, who had scored just once from open play in 10 previous appearances this season.

Aguero said: "I am very happy. I am very happy with my goals but for me the three points is more important than the goals. Five goals is good and I am happy.

"I hope to continue in the same way. I am happy to score all these goals because it was useful to win. I think it was four games without scoring any goals in the Premier League so I am really pleased about my performance today."

Aguero's haul equalled a Premier League record held jointly by Andy Cole, Jermain Defoe, Dimitar Berbatov and Alan Shearer for the most goals scored by one player in a match.

He might have gone on to surpass the mark had he not been substituted by manager Manuel Pellegrini in the 66th minute, but it was later revealed the 27-year-old had been carrying a knock.

Aguero said: "I've just realised here in the dressing room that I equalled this record but the most important thing is that we won this game and got the three points.

"I had a problem with my hamstring in the last game in the Champions League against Borussia (Monchengladbach) but now I am feeling good. It was a good decision from the manager to change me because it means no risk."
