Fergie in sun as United make sales pitch
AS Alex Ferguson enjoyed the sun with his Manchester United charges on a warm-weather training trip to Qatar, the Premier League champions put their trophies on display in the City of London yesterday in the hope that investors would follow suit with their cash.
The European Cup, which United do not hold, and the Premier League trophy, which they do, were the star attractions on the first day of presentations to London-based investors that the Glazer family hopes will fill a £500m bond offer.
Club chief executive David Gill gave the sales pitch and also played down the impact of the possible departure of Ferguson, saying that the club would be insulated from any financial impact for the first year or two after his departure.
