Ferdinand and Bale in frame for world XI

RIO FERDINAND and Gareth Bale are among 17 Premier League-based players named in a 55-man shortlist for the Fifa Fifpro World XI for 2011.

Spain's La Liga boasts 22 nominees for the awards with the final XI due to be announced on January 9.
