Republic will avoid group clash with neighbours at Euro 2016

The Republic of Ireland will know their opposition in Euro 2016 when the draw for the finals takes place in Paris on Saturday, December 12.

Martin O'Neill's men will definitely be in pot four when the groups are drawn. This means they will be unable to draw Northern Ireland and Wales who will also be ranked among the fourth seeds.

Top seeds for the tournament are Germany, Spain, England, Portugal, Belgium and France with the final two teams known tonight after Denmark host Sweden and Ukraine take a 2-0 lead to Slovenia.

Hosts France are scheduled to kick off the championship in the Stade de France on June 10.

The tournament will end four weeks later, with the final taking place - also at the Stade de France - on July 10.

Second seeds: Italy, Russia, Switzerland,

Austria, Croatia, Ukraine.

Third seeds: Czech Republic, Sweden/Denmark,

Fourth seeds: Turkey, Rep of Ireland, Iceland, Wales, Albania, Northern Ireland
