France player ratings

Press Association

Hugo Lloris: Did not have much to do. No chance with goal and opted not to bring James Milner down for one the midfielder then missed. 7.

Mathieu Debuchy: Edged his private battle with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and also got forward to good effect. 7.

Patrice Evra: Conceded free-kick for England goal. Usual threat on the overlap. 7.

Adil Rami: Not put under enough pressure by England's forwards, able to stroll forward when he liked. 7.

Philippe Mexes: Dictated France's play as, like Rami, not shut down quickly enough. 7.

Yohan Cabaye (off 83): Brutal shot blocked by John Terry before half-time. Difficult man to pin down. 9.

Karim Benzema: Forceful presence as France's attacking spearhead but denied a clear sight of goal. 8.

Samir Nasri: Prodded and probed and eventually found a way through, beating Manchester City team-mate Joe Hart at his near post. 8.

Franck Ribery: France's main threat. Left Oxlade-Chamberlain for dead with one goal-line burst and claimed assist for Nasri's effort. 8.

Florent Malouda (off 83): Solid if unspectacular performance from the Chelsea man. 7.

Alou Diarra: Denied by Hart's reaction save and kept France rolling forward. 7.

SUBSTITUTES:

Marvin Martin (on 83): Not enough time to make an impact.

Hatem Ben Arfa (on 83): Not enough time to make an impact.
