Bosnia boost as Dzeko makes Roma return

Edin Dzekoe gave Bosnia a Euro 2016 play-off boost by returning to action for Roma last night, but it was his compatriot Miralem Pjanic who offered a timely reminder of his talent in a chaotic 4-4 draw with Bayer Leverkusen.
Dzeko had been out of action since September 26 with a knee problem and was introduced for the last five minutes of a crazy encounter where Leverkusen went 2-0 ahead, fell 4-2 behind and then struck twice in the final quarter to claim a point.
The Serie A side had opened up a lead thanks to the creativity of set-piece specialist Pjanic, who curled home his fifth of the campaign just after half-time.
It came on the day when another key Bosnian performer, Vedad Ibisevic, was hit with a four-game ban that looks set to confine him to the sidelines until the play-offs.
Ibisevic, who plays for Hertha Berlin, has picked up an additional sanction for a straight red card in his club's encounter with Schalke at the weekend.
Hertha could yet appeal the decision, but it means the 31-year-old will have to kick his heels in the build-up to the Irish encounter.
