WATCH - Glenn Whelan proved what legend he is with this classy act for young Irish fan
The Irish players have done us all proud on the pitch and if you needed any proof of how classy they are off the field then look no further.
Glenn Whelan hasn't had the best of tournaments but that didn't stop him making this young boy's day.
Tiarnán O'Kelly (10), from Dundrum in Dublin, went pitch side after the game to cheer on his heroes.
He said: "All the players were coming over and I just wanted to get a high five, say hello or get a wave.
"I went down and I was screaming and shouting and then this guy he lifted me up.
"Glenn Whelan heard me and he came over and he gave me his boots.
"It was just amazing. It is the best day of my life."
Dad Shane (36) explained that they are season ticket holders but this is their first time at an away game together.
"We are absolutely delighted that this has happened."
Tiarnán says he is going to store the boots, which have the initials of Glenn's two children and a tricolour inscribed on them, in his room.
"I'll bring them into my class and show them. They're a bit too big for me yet but my dad goes to football so he might wear them sometimes.
"I'll keep them until I'm big enough to wear them myself."
He added that he hopes to one day play for Ireland himself.
Tiarnán was not the only child lucky enough to come away with a souvenir pair of boots.
Shane Long was also spotted handing his pair to a young girl amongst the travelling support.
