New footage shows Portuguese captain Cristiano Ronaldo encourage team mate Joao Moutinho into taking a penalty during the shootout victory over Poland last week.

Portugal's quarter-final clash with the Poles ended 1-1 after extra-time and as they were selecting their five penalty takers for the shootout, Ronaldo could be heard convincing Moutinho to be among the quintet.

“Hey, hey! Come take the penalty,” he told Moutinho.

“You hit them well. If we lose, then **** it. Be strong, come on! Be strong! You hit them well, come on.”

Moutinho missed a penalty in the Euro 2012 shootout defeat to Spain but eventually agreed and he converted the third of Portugal's five successful spot kicks as they won 5-3.

The AS Monaco should be grateful for Ronaldo's intervention.
