Amidst the wild celebrations after Ireland's historic win over Italy, you may have missed this gem.

Iceland, with a population of just over 320,000, have qualified for the last 16 alongside Ireland, with the duo set to meet in a battle of the similarly named nations after they dispatch England and France respectively in the second round.

Iceland had been set to finish third in the group, and play Croatia, until a late Arnor Ingvi Traustason winner earned them a 2-1 win over Austria and the runners up spot.

You could understand Icelandic commentator Gudmundur Benediktsson for being excited, although his animated reaction probably surpassed anything that you have ever heard on TV before.

Think of RTE's Michael Corcoran on very potent vocal steriods.
