TV3's new punditry hire will make England games essential viewing at Euro 2016
Joey Barton is notoriously outspoken in interviews and on Twitter but football fans will get to hear his football thoughts in a more formal setting this summer after TV3 announced the midfielder as part of their punditry team for Euro 2016
Barton, who is reportedly set to join Rangers after gaining promotion to the Premier League with Championship-winning Burnley, will no doubt be forthright and mercilessly as he critiques players - something he regularly does online.
It will be interesting to see how Barton transition's from 140 character barbs - 'Neymar is the Justin Bieber of football. Brilliant on Youtube. Catpiss in reality. - to a more structured environment.
With TV3 set to show two of Engalnd's group games, here's hoping we get the chance to watch the controversial midfielder put the boot in on some former rivals in the TV studio.
TV3 will show 22 games during Euro 2016 - 17 group games, three last 16 encounters, two quarter-finals and the final. Graeme Souness, Keith Andrews, Neil Lennon, Harry Redknapp, Kevin Kilbane, Gerry Armstrong, Lawrie Sanchez and Ireland women's captain Emma Byrne will also be part of the station's coverage.
