This couple met over an ice-cream and a beer at Euro 2012 and now they are in France celebrating their honeymoon with their five-month-old baby.

Eoin McCann, his wife Roisín, their baby daughter Aoife and her sister Emma (9) were all in the Stade de France last night to cheer on the Boys in Green.

Roisín explained that they met at the Euro 2012 tournament in Gdansk following Ireland's crushing 4-0 defeat to eventual champions Spain.

“We stayed out a late, late, late night in Gdansk after the Spain game. We met outside an ice-cream shop having a drink.

“We were still up from the night before.”

Eoin added: “It's been a quick four years I can tell you that.”

It was love at first sight for the couple from Castleknock in Dublin who celebrated the birth of Aoife five months ago and were married in March.

When it came to picking a honeymoon destination there was only one place on both of their minds.

“We got married in March so this [Euro 2016] was the first choice for the honeymoon, it's a family affair,” said Aoife.

Eoin added:“We were always going to come. We were debating whether to leave the baby but it's hard to leave her away for two weeks.

“It's been going fairly well so far.”

The family are going to all three group games and will then fly back to Ireland.

However football mad Eoin and Roisín will then fly back for the last 16 round of games if Ireland qualify.

They explained that it is tough travelling with a newborn because of the amount of items that you have to bring, but it is otherwise going very well.

The couple travel to all of Ireland's home and away games.

“Everywhere, friendlies in the USA even. It's a lot,” said Aoife.

Eoin added: “It's a lifestyle choice, once you get hooked it's hard to walk away. You wouldn't like to be sitting at home watching this and knowing the buzz that is going on.”

Following the Irish team plays havoc with their holiday plans. “When would you ever go to Kazakhstan or Georgia? It's a bit of a holiday lottery every year.”

Like many fans with young children they are planning to use today to visit Disneyland Paris on the outskirts of the city.

And Roisín's daughter Emma is very excited about the prospect. “I'm going to Disneyland,” she smiled.

Like any older sister Emma loves little Aoife but admits she wishes the baby wasn't on the trip.

“She cries a lot,” she told Independent.ie.
