Ireland fans desperate to travel to Lyon to see their heroes take on France in the last 16 of Euro 2016 have received a welcome boost with news that Ryanair will put on extra flights to the French city.
Be prepared to dig deep however, as a return ticket will set you back €620.
Following last night's historic 1-0 win over Italy in Lille, Irish fans are scrambling to get to France and source match tickets.
Ryanair’s Euros specials will depart from Dublin this Saturday at 08.10hrs, 13.20hrs, 18.55hrs, Sunday at 05.45hrs and 05.55hrs, and return from Lyon at 21.00hrs and 21.25hrs on Sunday and at 00.30hrs, 12.00hrs, 17.10hrs and 22.45hrs on Monday.
Ryanair’s Robin Kiely said: “We’ve been inundated with requests from Irish fans ever since the final whistle blew in Lille last night and we’ve scheduled five special Euro 2016 flights for Ireland’s crunch tie against France on Sunday in Lyon, departing Dublin on Saturday and Sunday morning, and returning on Sunday night and Monday morning.
"These Euro specials will sell fast and are only available for booking on the Ryanair.com website. Fans should note that these flights will operate with hand baggage only, to remind ourselves of Thierry Henry’s handball in 2009, and we all hope the French defence joins their Air Traffic Controllers and the rest of their unions by going AWOL on Sunday.”
Five flights were announced early this afternoon with a further six added this evening due to customer demand.
“Demand for this match is shattering all previous records and as a result we’ve added another 6 flights between Dublin and Lyon, bringing to 11 the total number of Euro 2016 specials we’ll operate between Saturday 25th and Monday 27th," Mr Kiely added this evening.
