Irish football fans have been left to find new accommodation after a campsite in Paris was forced to close because of flooding, just days ahead of Euro 2016.

The Indigo campsite, on the banks of the River Seine, was to be the base for scores of Irish fans for the competition. But it is unclear whether the site will now be ready to host fans by the weekend, with some reporting they had bookings cancelled.

When contacted last night, a representative for the Indigo site confirmed it had been forced to close after recent flooding in the French capital.

"I'm not sure when it will reopen, it might be some time in the middle of next week," he said.

Ireland are scheduled to face Sweden in their first game of the tournament on Monday in the Stade de France.

Some supporters took to the 'You Boys in Green' fan website ybig.ie, to express their frustrations.

Many said they had been told by the site that it may be open in time, but had been receiving mixed messages.
