England beat Portugal - who were without Cristiano Ronaldo - for the first time since 1998 in an under-whelming European Championship send-off at Wembley.
Chris Smalling was the unlikely match-winner with a well-taken late header in a game played a pedestrian pace with players keen to avoid injury.
That, however, didn't stop Bruno Alves from launching a head-high tackle on Harry Kane which resulted in a first-half red card for the Portugal defender.
Thankfully for England, Kane was uninjured, but he struggled to make an impact alongside Jamie Vardy, with Wayne Rooney in a deeper role.
