An Irish football fanatic sulked until his wife let him make some very patriotic changes to their house
We are just five days away from Ireland's Euro 2016 opener against Sweden and after a slow build-up, excitement is building.
Most fans are preparing themselves for the tournament by reading up on all of Ireland's opponents but for one supporter in Crumlin, some patriotic DIY is the best way to show loyalty to the Boys in Green.
John Meehan, who lives on Clonard Road in Crumlin, has painted the front of his house green, white and orange to resemble the Irish tricolour - after getting permission from his wife.
Laura Abbey told Independent.ie that the renovations to their home are merely temporary, depending on how long Martin O'Neill's men last at the tournament.
Meehan is a huge Ireland fan but hasn't yet been able to secure any tickets for their Euro 2016 group games.
"He had to sulk this morning in order to get the green light," Laura told Independent.ie.
"He did it four years ago for the Euros too but he has to paint over it once Ireland are knocked out."
Ireland's first Euro 2016 group encounter is in Paris on Monday, followed by a clash in Bordeaux against Belgium on Saturday June 18 before playing Italy in Lille on Wednesday June 22.
