Downes magic inspires Bohs

BOHEMIANS 2 , BRAY WANDERERS 1 , Miguel Delaney

Pat Fenlon may not be speaking to the media at the moment, but his Bohemians team did just about enough talking on the pitch as sparkling strikes from Anto Flood and Aidan Downes saw off Bray.

For a long time, though, there was only silence. Events from Lansdowne Road seemed to have an echo as the first half was devoid of excitement.

Finally, after 54 minutes, Downes cut in on the right and released a pass for Flood to easily finish.

"He's excellent," the scorer enthused of Downes, who signed as an amateur last month. "His feet are unreal, so quick -- they create something out of nothing."

And that was exactly what happened on 72 minutes as Downes struck from 30 yards. His low shot skipped off the ground and past Darren Quigley to effectively seal the three points.

Dave Webster headed in a free-kick for Bray on 80 minutes, but Bohs had done enough.
