Premier League leaders Chelsea are on course to win the double after reaching the FA Cup final with victory over Tottenham on Saturday.

Here, Press Association Sport looks at the previous double achievements Anotnio Conte's side are hoping to emulate.

PRESTON 1889

The Lancashire side became the original 'Invincibles' after going through the first season of League football unbeaten and following up by beating Wolves in the FA Cup final.

ASTON VILLA 1897

Villa swept almost all before them when they won five league titles between 1894 and 1900 and they added cup glory in 1897 with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Everton in the final.

TOTTENHAM 1961

The Danny Blanchflower-inspired Spurs powered to the First Division title after opening the season with 11 successive wins and Leicester were vanquished in the cup final.

ARSENAL 1971

The Gunners took the title and then capped a brilliant campaign by coming from behind to beat Liverpool in extra-time at Wembley with a famous Charlie George goal.

LIVERPOOL 1986

The Reds beat Everton to the title and then overcame their neighbours again in the FA Cup final to cap a glorious first season in charge for player-manager Kenny Dalglish.

MANCHESTER UNITED 1994

Sir Alex Ferguson claimed his second Premier League title and for good measure added the cup with a 4-0 victory over Chelsea at Wembley.

MANCHESTER UNITED 1996

Newcastle's capitulation handed United another title and they made it a 'double double' by beating arch-rivals Liverpool in a dull cup final with a late Eric Cantona goal.

ARSENAL 1998

Arsene Wenger's side powered to the Premier League crown with a run of 10 successive late-season wins and then comfortably saw off Newcastle in the FA Cup final.

MANCHESTER UNITED 1999

United completed their third double with victory over Newcastle at Wembley and then went on to even greater success by winning the Champions League final four days later.

ARSENAL 2002

The Londoners lost just three Premier League games and clinched the title with a memorable win over Manchester United at Old Trafford four days after beating Chelsea in the cup final.

CHELSEA 2010

Carlo Ancelotti's Chelsea became the first side to score more than 100 goals in a Premier League season as they pipped Manchester United to the title before beating Portsmouth to add the FA Cup.
