Bayer Leverkusen's Swiss striker Eren Derdiyok has been ruled out for several weeks after stepping on a shard of glass in his bathroom.
German newspaper 'Bild' reported that the accident happened on Thursday, when Derdiyok stepped on a piece of glass left on the floor after a toothbrush holder fell and shattered.
The Bundesliga club said Derdiyok was taken to hospital in Cologne, where he received seven stitches in his foot.
With nine goals to his name this season, the 23-year-old had barely put a foot wrong, but after this careless accident he will have his leg up for the next two weeks.
The injury rules him out of the Champions League match against Barcelona on February 14 as well as crucial league meetings with Stuttgart and Borussia Dortmund.
