Delighted Killester stun Cobh
Killester Utd 3-0 Cobh Ramblers
Clinically-taken goals from Mark O'Connell, David Lacey and Dylan O'Driscoll gave Killester an easy victory over an abject Cobh Ramblers at Hadden Park.
Having dominated the first half without gaining any reward, Killester deservedly took the lead three minutes into the second when striker O'Connell stooped to head home an O'Driscoll cross from the right.
Lacey punished a mistake by goalkeeper Eoghan Daly to score the second with a clever lob on 72 minutes.
And O'Driscoll provided the gloss with a stunning third goal right on 90 minutes, rifling an angled drive to the net off the crossbar.
"The lads were very, very good," beamed victorious Killester manager Joey Graydon after this latest triumph.
"Our two previous performances were really poor, so we didn't want the season to fizzle out on us.
"We started well and never let them into the game. That was the important thing.
"I saw them last week and knew they were a young team. I said to the lads that if we got amongst them it would help us. And we did that really well."
Graydon was especially pleased with the quality of his team's goals.
"The first goal changed the whole game, coming right after half-time. It was a great ball in and a great header.
"I never had any doubt about the outcome after that."
