Dele Alli and Tottenham endured a frustrating evening

Dele Alli endured a frustrating night at the London Stadium as Tottenham's title hopes blew up in smoke after a 1-0 defeat to West Ham.

Alli had scored four goals in six games coming into the match but the 21-year-old struggled as Spurs fell to Manuel Lanzini's second-half strike.

Here, Press Association Sport takes a closer look at Alli's performance.

POSITIONING

Alli played as the most advanced attacking midfielder, drifting in from the left and looking to link up with Harry Kane. Christian Eriksen dropped deeper to pick up more possession but Alli stayed forward and did most of his work in the final third.

GOAL THREAT

Alli had an early chance in the first half when Kane's shot came out to him in the area but his effort was blocked. That was as close as the England international came to finding the net, with his team-mates often failing to find his runs with their final balls into the box.

CREATIVITY

West Ham were quick to close Alli down and he had to be clever to find pockets of space. One dancing run down the left saw him nutmeg Sam Byram and a nice exchange with Son Heung-min in the second half resulted in Alli pulling the ball across the face of goal. But nobody was on the end of it and the attack came to nothing.

OVERALL

Alli has so often produced the match-winning moments in recent months but he simply was unable to find the answer here to West Ham's resilient defence. Spurs' defeat leaves their title hopes hanging by a thread.
