JIM McGUINNESS celebrated his first big-match night as a Celtic employee with thoughts of Donegal's epic All-Ireland win racing through his mind.
And McGuinness, now two weeks into his role as a performance consultant at Parkhead, found some clear similarities between Celtic's remarkable journey to the knockout phase of the champions League with his own efforts during the summer.
"The pressure was on the players and they came through," he said. "I suppose in relation to our (Donegal) own journey there were a couple of similarities.
"A lot of people had Celtic written off at the start of the season, saying that they wouldn't be in the group stages let alone the last 16.
"It's been a great journey for them. I see how hard they work in training. They are a very honest group of lads and have delivered for the club. They are a very young and inexperienced team and the victory will stand them in good stead for the future.
"Who knows what the draw will bring and that's part of the excitement."
