Defoe 'not leaving Toronto'

Jermain Defoe looks likely to remain with current club Toronto FC

A number of Barclays Premier League clubs look like being disappointed by the news that Jermain Defoe looks unlikely to leave current club Toronto FC.

The England international has been linked with a return to England having left Tottenham for the Major League Soccer franchise in January, with a whole hosts of clubs reported to be interested in acquiring his services.

Leicester were believed to be keen on talking to Defoe's representatives, with the 31-year-old also touted as a potential deadline-day signing for Arsenal or former club Tottenham.

But Kurtis Larson, a journalist for the Toronto Sun, has poured cold water on any suggestion Defoe will leave Toronto, who have recently sacked manager Ryan Nelsen.

"BREAKING: @TheTorontoSun can confirm that Jermain Defoe will remain at TFC after rejecting multiple bids," he wrote on Twitter.
