David de Gea has agreed to join Real Madrid, according to reports in Spain.
The Manchester United goalkeeper has been linked with the Spanish superstars for a long time now and respected journalist, Josep Pedrerol, has said on television that De Gea has agreed to join Cristiano Ronaldo and Co at the Bernabeu next season.
While no agreement has been reached between the clubs, it is believed that Real will make United an offer they can't refuse.
"The club considered many options for the goalkeeping situation but have decided on De Gea," said Pedrerol.
"And David de Gea is clear... he wants to be the Real Madrid goalkeeper.
"One of the problems had been the future (or not) of Iker Casillas but this is no longer an impediment to the signing of De Gea.
"Only an agreement between the clubs is lacking."
Los Blancos are searching for a replacement for Iker Casillas, who has severely declined in recent seasons, and see the Manchester United star as someone who could become the club’s No 1 for many years to come.
A move would be controversial given his links with Atletico, but the club are aware that De Gea's contract expires at the end of next season.
A £25m figure has been suggested and the fact that that his partner works in Spain another reason why he might consider an offer despite his number one status in Manchester.
