Cristiano Ronaldo has not been a happy man in recent weeks and yesterday's 4-0 defeat at the hands of bitter rivals Atletico did little to lighten his mood.

Tiago Mendes opened the scoring for the champions at a raucous Vicente Calderon after 13 minutes and substitute Saul Niguez doubled the lead with an acrobatic goal just moments after replacing Koke.

Antoine Griezmann and Mario Mandzukic added to the goal glut in the second half to leave stunned Real thoroughly humiliated.

The win saw Atletico cut the gap to league leaders Real to four points and gave Barcelona the chance to close it to just one if they win at Athletic Bilbao on today.

An angry Ronaldo clearly wasn't impressed when one reporter asked him to explain why he motioned to his Club World Cup-winning badge on his shirt following his sending off against Cordoba three weeks ago.

“Do you want to talk about what happened today or about Cordoba, that was three months [sic] ago now,” he said.

“What do you want me to say? If you were an intelligent journalist you’d ask me questions about today’s game.

“You are not intelligent. Sorry.”
