Russian Premier League team Kuban Krasnodar have been accused by one of their own players of hiring heavy-handed muscle to beat him into signing a termination of his contract.
Montenegrin Nikola Nikezic has lodged an official complaint with UEFA and FIFA after allegedly being the victim of a 20-minute attack from Russian strong men after refusing to tear up his two-year contract.
"When I replied that my contract has another year to run... I received a powerful blow to the liver," Nikezic wrote in his letter.
He said he signed the contract termination out of fear for his life after allegedly being warned he would "return to Montenegro disabled".
Kuban's sporting director Sergei Doronchenko dismissed the allegations as "pure idiocy".
