Clifford strike proves bittersweet for U-19s

Conor Clifford's spot-kick gave Ireland's U-19s victory over 10-man Bosnia-Herzegovina in Kiev yesterday, but it wasn't enough to secure a place in the finals of the UEFA U-19 Championship.

England sealed their place in the eight-team France finale by drawing 1-1 with Ukraine.

Ireland created most of the chances in a one-sided encounter, but all they had to show for their efforts was Clifford's strike on 68 minutes after Sunderland's Conor Hourihane had been chopped down.
