Watch: Eamon Dunphy forced to quickly change his post-match analysis after Cristiano Ronaldo's double

Earlier this season Eamon Dunphy announced that Lionel Messi was finished before the Argentine promptly scored a hat-trick against Man City - and he almost made a similar mistake last night.

With Bayern Munich leading Real Madrid 1-0, and looking to be on the way to a crucial Champions League quarter-final victory, Dunphy began to prepare his post-match talking points, centred around Cristiano Ronaldo being 'finished'.

The Portuguese legend subsequently scored twice for Real Madrid to claim a 2-1 away win to take back to the Bernabeu, and Dunphy was forced to reevaluate. Speaking on RTE after last night's game, Dunphy revealed that he was forced to bin the highlights package after Ronaldo's second half heroics.

"I did a package earlier in the game showing seven or eight mistakes he made with a view to doing a 'Ronaldo is finished piece'," Dunphy said.

"We've binned that because he got the two goals, so he has still got some life in him."
