Spurs have been in discussions with the FA for some time about moving to Wembley for the 2017/18 season while the building work is completed on their new stadium, which is due to open at the start of the 2018/19 campaign.

The Times have reported that that the prospect of having a significantly reduced capacity at White Hart Lane next season has forced the club to consider the temporary switch a year early.

The report also added that Tottenham may be forced to remove up to 8,000 seats from White Hart Lane during the next campaign to facilitate building work on their new stadium, which adjoins their existing ground and is due to open in 2018.

Spurs are almost guaranteed Champions League football next season, with the club currently in second place in the Premier League, 11 points above fifth-placed Manchester United.
