Luis Suarez has taken a swipe at Cristiano Ronaldo by saying the Real Madrid forward is not as good as player as he used to be.

The Uruguayan striker could be poised for a meeting with Ronaldo and Real in this season's Champions League final, provided both teams come through the second legs of their semi-finals.

And Suarez has chosen to stoke the clubs' rivalry by saying Ronaldo's "level" has dropped in recent seasons compared to his Nou Camp teammate Lionel Messi.

He told football magazine Le Buteur, and quoted by The Mirror: "Messi is natural, it is his character. He is the best in the world but he was born with his qualities.

"Ronaldo has progressed and worked a lot to perform how he does. He's not at the same level he was when he started. I think Leo is the best."

Barcelona travel to Bayern Munich tonight aiming to seal their progress to the Champions League final in Berlin, having established a 3-0 lead from the first leg.

Real face a more daunting task: they trail Juventus 2-1 from their semi-final first leg ahead of Wednesday's second leg.
