Ronaldo hat-trick dismantles Ajax

champions league Round-up

Cristiano Ronaldo scored a hat-trick and Karim Benzema netted a spectacular overhead kick to give Real Madrid a 4-1 win over Ajax Amsterdam in Group D.

Ronaldo pounced on a loose ball to score from close range in the 42nd minute and Benzema finished off a swift Real break three minutes into the second half when he smashed home a Kaka centre.

Real's vulnerability at set-pieces gave Ajax hope in the 56th minute when Niklas Moisander headed home from a corner, before Ronaldo scored twice in two minutes to kill off the game.

Souleymane Camara scored in the 90th minute to earn 10-man Montpellier a 2-2 draw at Schalke in the other game in Arsenal's group B.

Montpellier took an early lead, but Schalke went ahead through a Julian Draxler goal and a penalty by Klaas-Jan Huntelaar in the 53rd minute, which led to the sending off of Garry Bocaly.

James Rodriguez scored late to give FC Porto a 1-0 win over Paris Saint-Germain in Group A. The Colombian midfielder curled a left-foot shot into the far corner to break the deadlock in the 83rd minute.
