Real Madrid put one foot in the last 16 by romping to a 4-0 home win over closest Group D challengers Lyon.
Karim Benzema put Jose Mourinho's men ahead in the 18th minute. He then turned provider early in the second half, setting up Sami Khedira to make it 2-0. Mesut Ozil made it 3-0 on 54 minutes and Sergio Ramos added a late fourth.
Ajax moved level with Lyon on four points thanks to a 2-0 victory at Dinamo Zagreb, with Dirk Boerrigter getting the first goal shortly after the interval and Christian Eriksen making sure of the result in the final minute.
In Manchester City's group, Napoli drew 1-1 at home to Bayern Munich. Toni Kroos put the Germans ahead in the second minute, but the Italians replied with a Holger Badstuber own goal in the 39th minute.The result leaves Bayern two points clear on seven points, three ahead of third-placed City.
Benfica went clear at the top of Manchester United's group with a 2-0 win at Basel, thanks to goals from Bruno Cesar and Oscar Cardoza, while Inter showed signs of emerging from their slump with a 1-0 win at Lille to top Group B.
