Celtic goalkeeper Fraser Foster gets England call

ENGLAND manager Roy Hodgson has included Celtic goalkeeper Fraser Forster in his squad for the World Cup qualifiers against San Marino and Poland.

Tottenham winger Aaron Lennon is also in the squad for the first time since the 2010 World Cup, while Stoke City defender Ryan Shawcross returns for the first time since March 2010.

Hodgson has recalled fit-again strikers Wayne Rooney and Andy Carroll for the October 12 match at Wembley against San Marino and trip to Poland four days later.

Meanwhile, Rio Ferdinand has sent a message to Hodgson, accepting the England manager's apology for some careless talk to strangers on the Tube about the defender's international future.

The pair have still not spoken in person but indirect contact has been made over what an embarrassed Hodgson admits could be perceived as an "insult".
