Celtic fans have been warned that they will be refused entry from Ibrox Stadium tomorrow if they arrive wearing hard hats.

Mischievous Bhoys had planned to wear the hard hats following comments from Rangers chairman Dave King earlier this year when he revealed that the deteriorating Ibrox roof needed a complete overhaul.

Those comments prompted sections of the Celtic support to poke fun at their near-neighbours about the state of their ground.

But Celtic's fan liaison officer took to Twitter to warn those making the short trip to Ibrox that hard hats are not permitted.

"For anyone who had intended to wear one @policescotland have advised that regulation hard hats will not be permitted at the match tomorrow," read a tweet from the Celtic fans liaison officer account.

Meanwhile, Celtic midfielder Tom Rogic has been ruled out of the Hogmanay Old Firm game against Rangers with an ankle injury.

Boss Brendan Rodgers had hoped the Australia international would have recovered after missing the last three matches but revealed he would not be back until after the winter break.

Callum McGregor returns from a one-game ban while long-term injured left-back Kieran Tierney remains out.

Provisional squad: Gordon, Lustig, Gamboa, Izaguirre, Toure, Sviatchenko, Simunovic, O'Connell, Sinclair, Brown, Bitton, Armstrong, Forrest, Roberts, Dembele, Griffiths, Christie, McGregor, Mackay-Steven, De Vries.
