Capello keeps his distance
Fabio Capello will only speak to Wayne Bridge about John Terry's affair with his former partner if the left-back is selected for next month's friendly against Egypt, WRITES JASON BURT.
Bridge is believed to have indicated he does not want to be considered for the match but he has been told to see how he feels nearer the time.
Capello has not spoken to Bridge about the affair but there have been discussions between the Manchester City defender and the England manager's backroom staff.
In keeping with Capello's businesslike approach, he does not feel the need to have a conversation with Bridge unless he is fit, in form and in his squad to play on March 3.
Capello also plans to include Terry for the game at Wembley despite stripping him of the captaincy following his relationship with Vanessa Perroncel.
Bridge has been devastated by the revelations -- Terry was his best friend while Perroncel is the mother of his child -- although, according to sources close to the player, he has now twice taken calls from his former Chelsea team-mate, having initially refused to speak to him.
That a dialogue has taken place will encourage the England camp that Terry and Bridge can go to South Africa although the latter is still mulling over whether to withdraw from international football while Terry is involved. (© Daily Telegraph, London)
