Bohs hero Molloy to sign for Shels
SHELBOURNE are eager to sign Trevor Molloy on a short-term arrangement to help kick-start their Euro campaign and Premier Division title defence.
Molloy is out of contract with Bohemians and Shels' manager Pat Fenlon is keen to welcome the striker into the Tolka Park fold, if only for a couple of months.
"I've spoken to Roddy Collins and Trevor, and both are happy to let the move go ahead," said Fenlon.
"It's understood that whenever Roddy and John Courtenay get sorted out at a club in England, whether that's at Carlisle or elsewhere, then Trevor would be free to link up with them," he explained.
"I'd be delighted to have Trevor on board to help us for a month or so. We're short on cover as Dessie Baker won't be back until August after a knee operation," he added.
Elsewhere, Corkman Alan Kelly will referee the European U17 Championship semi-final between France and Spain today.
The 26-year-old, who is the youngest European referee on the FIFA panel, took charge of three group matches last week and impressed the assessors enough to be kept on for the closing stages of the competition.
Kelly only made the FIFA list in January and has already handled an U21 friendly between England and Italy.
Dublin referee Hugh Byrne was on the line for last night's opening game in the Toulon U21 tournament between Brazil and Poland.
Byrne will referee the game between Portugal and Poland tomorrow and is also listed as the fourth official for the match between Japan and South Africa on Thursday.
Both Byrne and Kelly will also be in action in next month's Inter-Toto Cup.
