Benitez in mix for Russia job
Rafael Benitez is interested in taking over as Russia's national team coach and has arranged to meet with with the national federation.
Benitez faces fierce competition for the role, with Fabio Capello, Pep Guardiola, Harry Redknapp and Marcello Lippi also among 13 high-profile candidates for the job.
The Spaniard, who guided Liverpool to victory in the Champions League and FA Cup after winning La Liga twice with Valencia, recently turned down Sampdoria's advances because of their lack of immediate resources.
But he is eager to get back into the game, not having been involved in management since leaving Inter Milan in December 2010.
Phil Smith, Redknapp's agent, said his client was also open to negotiations.
