Manchester United's Wayne Rooney celebrates with team mate Marouane Fellaini after scoring against West Ham United.

Wayne Rooney did his finest David Beckham impression at Upton Park this evening by scoring just yards past the half-way line.

The United striker showed perfect vision and execution to lob Adrian in the Hammers goal when there appeared to be little danger in the middle of the pitch.

Rooney held off the close attentions of a defender and with the ball bouncing, let fly with the goalkeeper off his line.

The goal will draw comparisons of David Beckham’s half-way line strike against Wimbledon in 1996 and indeed the former United player was in the stand to admire the stunning strike from Rooney.
