Aston Villa await injury update on Jordan Lyden
Aston Villa are waiting to discover the extent of the knee injury Jordan Lyden sustained during the final day defeat against Arsenal.
Lyden, one of the club's most highly-rated young players, was making only his second Barclays Premier League start at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday. The 20-year-old Australian was forced to leave the field in some distress in the 75th minute.
Villa caretaker manager Eric Black revealed after the 4-0 loss to the Gunners that Lyden had "tweaked his meniscus" but added it was too soon to make an accurate assessment of the injury and the club would know more in the next 48 hours.
Any sort of lengthy absence would be a blow for the midfielder after he spent much of last season out with a hamstring injury before finally breaking into the first team this year.
His appearance at Arsenal, where he played as an emergency right-back, was his sixth of the 2015/16 campaign.
