A second division Argentine footballer was tragically shot dead during a robbery attempt at his home.
Rodrigo Espindola, who was a defender with Nueva Chicago, was attempting to protect his son from the attackers when he was shot in the early hours of Friday morning, according to Goal.com.
He was rushed to hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.
Both his club and the Argentine FA have since released statements expressing their sadness at Espindola's death, and Nueva Chicago's game has been postponed this weekend as a mark of respect.
